Conversion and New Build
The conversion and new build construction of 50 roof top apartments in a city centre location on a main artery route into Cardiff. The project has two distinct differences in that 24 apartments were constructed by converting existing warehouse and office space and 26 apartments were built on top of the existing building. The new build consisted of a timber frame construction on a steel transfer deck. The external finish consisted of a light through coloured render that aesthetically compliments the red facing brickwork of the existing building at ground floor level and the cedar cladding at 3rd floor level. The building provides a contemporary yet warmth feel that has helped uplift the whole area.

There were no site storage areas so planning and co-ordination was critical in the successful completion of the project. The construction was hampered further still by the necessity to maintain the continuous operation of the four retail premises on the ground floor. Careful strategic planning of operations, deliveries, craneage requirements and maintaining water tightness was of paramount importance in ensuring the successful completion of the project on time and within budget, together with maintaining the respect and friendship of the neighbours.
